# Friends of Walnut Creek Senior Housing
> The Walnut Creek Senior Housing Transit Village Initiative aims to amend zoning in Downtown Walnut Creek to allow for the development of senior housing and community-serving retail on a 2.4-acre site near the BART station. This initiative seeks to provide over 200 units of much-needed senior housing, enabling older residents to age in place and remain connected to their community. The transit-oriented location will also feature retail, enhancing downtown vibrancy and supporting local businesses. The project aligns with Walnut Creek's long-term goals for housing, sustainability, and transit-oriented growth.
